Cafes You MUST Visit on Cedros
Who doesn’t love cafe dining?! They’re small, they’re quaint, and more often than not, they’re locally owned and operated. There’s a charm to local cafe dining that offers an experience like no other.
Cafe menu’s tend to be small, and often present creative dishes that the owner(s) have put together out of their pure passion for all things food related. Some menu items become favorites among frequent diners, other menu items are seasonal, and some come and go as specials.
The overall aesthetic of small cafe dining is also deeply thought out. Again, these eateries are often locally owned and operated by passionate people who care a great deal about their business as a whole, design and decor included. Cafe enthusiasts, like us, tend to notice the little details that are carried out in menu designs, furniture, wall coverings, display cases, food plating and presentation, and even the cafe’s website and social media presence.
Ok, now we’re getting hungry! But before we head out to lunch, we’re going to share with you some of the beautiful cafes on Cedros Avenue that are a must for your list of places to dine for breakfast, lunch or even an early dinner.
Lockwood Table Café
Nestled in the back end of a teeny-tiny strip mall near Rosa Street is Lockwood Table. The owner, Alicia, is there a majority of the time and her passion for the business shines through. She and her staff have set a friendly vibe, and the menu boasts delicious, freshly prepared dishes that locals and visitors adore! The ‘Local Rolls” are a featured favorite with a base of baked eggs, black beans, oven roasted potatoes and cheese wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla — add-on’s for the “Local Roll” include turkey and avocado, bacon or ham. Yum! They also offer unique items such as housemade butter, housemade vinaigrette dressings, and delightful bubbly drinks (they term, “The Bubbles”) in a lovely array of flavors such as Lavender, Rose, Violet, Elderflower, Jasmine.

Orange Blossom Cafe
This wonderful little French-inspired cafe is located in the heart of Cedros tucked in back in the parking lot of the Bixby and Ball cottage (which offers luxury home goods btw). Orange Blossom Cafe offers fresh fare in a quaint setting specializing in handcrafted crepes, omelettes, and other delicious handmade baked goods. Their lusciously flavored coffees, made from flavored beans instead of syrups, might be one of our favorite indulgences to go with a sweet or savory crepe!

Hours: Mon-Sun 7:30am-4:30pm
Lofty Bean is the newest coffee hotspot and cafe to land on Cedros, and we’re so glad they did! Located just north of the Antique Warehouse, they bring such a lively vibe to our lovely Cedros Ave. The decor and fun staff is worth a visit in and of itself, but that’s only a prelude to the coffee they offer — true artisan, handcrafted coffees with organic locally sourced milks, and some of the most delicious housemade alternative milks and syrups you’ve ever tasted. Their menu is small, offering fresh, local, and organic items such as avocado with poached eggs and toast, salads, sandwiches, and homemade baked goods. They even have gluten free items.
Address: 132 South Cedros Ave, Solana Beach, CA 92075
Hours: Mon-Fri 6pm-6pm, Weekends 7am-6pm
Wild Note Cafe
We highlighted the Wild Note Cafe in previous blog post, but it’s part of our cafe crowd so we’re giving it some more love! Wild Note Cafe is the perfect place to enjoy an amazing meal and drink or two before attending a concert at The Belly Up Tavern. Their menu offers fresh and delicious pacific coastal cuisine with a touch of of Mexican-style fusion, which totally goes with the beachside feel of it’s sister venue, The Belly Up Tavern. They’re open for lunch, dinner, and of course, cocktails and dessert.
